Vignaioli Contra Soarda
Vignaioli Contra Soarda was founded by Mirco and Gloria Gottardi in 1999 on the Bassano hillside. At every level, from the soil to the barrels and into the bottles, they operate with great care and devotion to the land they farm and the environment beyond. Managing more than 60,000 vines and 1,000 olive trees with the second generation, Marcello and Eleonora, the family have been constant innovators in organic and natural growing and production practices. Well-rounded wines are the result of traditional knowledge combined with interest in innovation and dediction to qualilty.
Ca’ Lustra di Zanovello
From the heart of the Euganean Hills, the Zanovello family produces organic wines, using traditional vinification methods with spontaneous fermentations, zero clarification and minimum use of sulphites for wines that respect the land and environment. Founded by Franco Zanovello, the company is now run by his children, Marco and Linda. Under their management, Ca’ Lustra di Zanovello became fully certified organic in 2012. More recently, an experimental project lead them to Sicily, where they cultivate a small vineyard of Petit Verdot and Frappato.
Milziade Antano
This third-generation winery was founded at the end of the sixties by Milziade Antano, one of the key figures in the history of Sagrantino. Tradition, innovation, territory, a lot of passion and great sensitivity are the guiding principles. The vineyards are located in the now famous Colleallodole cru, in the heart of an area with a thousand-year tradition in the production of wine and oil. Twenty hectares of hilly vineyards are characterized by a mild, breezy climate, where the sun illuminates the vineyards both in the morning and in the afternoon. Position and exposure allow a beautiful maturation of grapes and tannins, characterizing these wines for their unmistakable elegance.
Castello Romitorio
Castello Romitorio was founded in 1984 by the Italian artist Sandro Chia, and Franco Martini, whose family has been producing Brunello di Montalcino for generations. Using a combination of large barrels and French oak for long, patient aging, the wood is never the star, but a supporting actor in the evolution of the wine. Barrell aging is followed by rest in the bottle, far exceeding the time dictated by regulations of Brunello di Montalcino. Under the leadership of their sons, Filippo, and Stefano, the estate transitioned to organic farming in March 2020.
Cà la Bionda
Founded in 1902 by Pietro Castellani, Cà la Bionda is located in the heart of the historically “classic” zone of the Valpolicella. The vineyard area extends over twenty nine hectares of hillside land at an altitude ranging from 150 to 300 meters, with east south-east exposure. The wines are faithful expressions of their land and of the Marano valley. Today, Pietro’s great-grandsons Alessandro, the winemaker, and Nicola, the viticulturist still work with native grapes, combining traditional winemaking processes with organic growing practices since 2016.
Josetta Saffirio Family Winery
Sara Vezza, is the 5th generation winemaker at Josetta Saffirio family winery. Since their first plantings in the 1940’s, Josetta Saffirio has been a house of pioneers, blending modern and traditional viticulture practices with organic and biodynamic methods to create a high-quality wine that is deeply respectful of the land. Under Sara’s leadership the winery has implemented solar power generation, reduction of CO2 emissions and received organic certifications on all of their vineyards. Most famous for her Barolo, Sara also cultivates Nebbiolo and Barbera.
Dezzani Winery
Dezzani winery was founded in 1934 in Cocconato, set 491 meters above sea level in the renowned Riviera of Monferrato. The history of their wines is closely linked to this region, with its ideal microclimate, unique characteristics, and authentic traditions. The Romanesque, Gothic, and medieval architecture surrounded by Barbera, Albarossa, Cabernet, and Syrah’s rows create a strikingly captivating landscape.
Col del Mondo
Founded by the Mazzocchetti cousins in 1973, Col del Mondo is located in Abruzzo in the municipality of Collecorvino, surrounded by rolling hills that stretch from the Apennines to the Adriatic coast. With vineyards that extend from 150 to 300 meters, clay marls, often calcareous, or loose soils rich in skeleton are frequently encountered with moraine stone, giving life to an old strain of Montepulciano with small and tasty bunches. Since 2008, the company has been entrusted to the next generation, Fabrizio and Giovanna Mazzocchetti.
Erik Banti
With vineyards in the heart of the Morellino di Scansano DOCG and Maremma Toscana DOC appelations, Erik began making wine 1981. His aim was to put the little known Morellino di Scansano on the world wine map and it worked. He was met with enthusiastic reviews from top critics and received the first Gambero Rosso “tre bicchieri” for a Morellino di Scansano. The special microclimate and stony, mixed consistency soils that characterise the Maremma induce an early harvest, giving the wines high acidity and considerable body with significant longevity.
Palmento Costanzo
Run by Valeria Agosta and her daughter Serena, Palmento Costanzo was founded on the slopes of Mt. Etna in 2010. Today, they cultivate 18 hectares between Passopisciaro and Santa Maria di Licodia, located north and southwest of the cone of Mt. Etna.Following tradition, native vines of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and Catarratto are trained on chestnut wood poles growing on typical stone terraces. Each small parcel is vinified separately based on the specific lava flow that sedimented over time. Stainless steel, tonneaux and large barrels are chosen to ensure that the essence of wood does not overpower the natural richness and purity of the vine.
La Spinona
Since 1920, the Berutti family has been passionately dedicated to their vineyards in the heart of Barbaresco with full respect to the environment while producing clean, elegant, high-quality wines. Representing the 5th generation of this family winery, Pietropaolo has attained organic certification for all of the family’s vineyards and personally manages the production and vinification of all La Spinona wines. His father, Gualtiero oversees the vineyards and the livestock farm.
Vignalta
Since 1980, Lucio Gomiero has pioneered quality through the planting of vines on the side of the highest of the Euganean hills, and by vinifying them with utmost precision. Today Vignalta wines still follow a path of excellence and maintain their high standards of viticultural heritage whilst combining modern oenological techniques. The Vignalta wines are not only the result of dedication, expertise and passion, but also of a particularly favorable natural environment: the Euganean Hills (“Colli Euganei”). The mineral-rich soil of volcanic origin, together with a mild climate with marked differences between day and night-time temperatures, allow Vignalta to produce grapes of extraordinary quality.
Villa Travignoli
Villa Travignoli is situated in the Rufina region of the northeastern hills of Chianti. The vines enjoy southern exposure and calcareous soils, with an altitude ranging from 250 to 400 meters. All day sun exposure and cool evening winds extend maturation to create balanced complexity in the wines. Villa Travignoli cultivates seventy hectares of vineyards of primarily Sangiovese grapes, but also including varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay. Records connect the estate with wine production back to 1100 A.D. Today, recognized as one of Italy’s most antique enterprises, the winery is run by Giovanni Busi and the Busi family.
Turetta Ca' Bianca (prosecco)
Turetta Cà Bianca was born four generations ago in the volcanic soils of the Euganean Hills Regional Park. Today, with 25 hectares of vineyards under the leadership of Stefano Turetta the small staff of this winery combine the most ancient traditions with modern technologies to provide an exceptional hillside-producer grown prosecco. Passion, respect for tradition, and thoughtful innovation are the foundations of the Turetta winery.
